The Monolith
The Monolith is an approx 22ft x 12.2ft x 12.2ft structure made of an extremely hard, stonelike material of unknown geological composition. It was first discovered on 16/07/23 and has since been cited as the cause of the mysterious mutative force (provisionally named Neuroavis Chimera disease) that has resulted in the emergence of SuperFauna species.

Teleportation
The Monolith appears to have the ability to spontaneously dematerialise and rematerialize anywhere within the perimeter of The Zone. The mechanism by which it achieves this is currently unknown. It seems to have a consistent spawning point in the dead centre of the zone’s boundaries, where it has been sighted most often. Trials have shown that the Monolith cannot teleport when being directly observed, even if viewed through a camera feed. Should the Monolith ‘need’ to teleport, it need only wait for its observer’s next blink or for dusk to obscure it. This may explain the extreme rarity of ocular organs across SuperFauna species as well as the aggressive behaviour shown by Warrior Shellmets, who viciously attack any eyed creature who ventures too close to the Monolith. There appears to be no consistently measurable pattern to these teleportation instances and a spontaneous manifestation has yet to be observed.

The Hum
The Monolith produces a constant infrasonic hum at around 1 Hz, well below human hearing range and only measurable through highly sensitive sound detection technology. However, this hum can be "felt" in the human body, producing a strange vibratory sensation which is hard to describe. This hum has also been recorded on occasion to elicit emotional responses in humans, which range from tranquil calmness to anxious distress. The source of the hum is unknown, but its existence has given rise to the theory that the Monolith might be some sort of beacon or transmitter.

Hardness
The rocklike material that comprises the Monolith is harder than any substance currently known on Earth and cannot be broken by any means at our disposal. While close study has been limited due to a propensity for sudden teleportation and Shellmet attacks, it has been determined that the Monolith’s geological makeup does not match any currently known. Despite its extreme sturdiness, the Monolith’s edifice appears ruined and overgrown, covered with deep scores and holes which some SuperFauna species use as nesting sites. This suggests it arrived on Earth in this damaged state, though when and by what means this damage was inflicted is unknown
Disappearances
Occasionally, The Monolith, along with The Zone and all its inhabitants, will spontaneously disappear without a single trace. This is perhaps due to ||9-0IWUX HWEIF3 gcygcb//////////////////////2e2&^% ^d5 rd7a///////////dcsc.
