The Zone

The Zone is a roughly 3.7km (2.29mile) square radius within an undisclosed location of , Kent, England, within which all SuperFauna species have been discovered. It was only designated as such after the first six SuperFauna species were sighted within its bounds, leading to deeper investigation of the area.

Elevated Oxygen levels
The Zone features an enhanced atmospheric oxygen level of a steady 33.82%, a similar level to that of Earth’s Carboniferous period 298.9 million years ago. In addition, trace amounts (less than 0.001%) of an unknown compound gas have been detected in the zone which is theorised to have its origins in the Monolith. These gas particles cannot survive outside of The Zone and its effects on the human body are currently unknown. It is likely that this gas is responsible for the zone’s over-proliferation of oxygen, helping to facilitate the habitation of SuperFauna. Scrubbing masks are now required when exploring the zone due to the potential hazards involved with long-term exposure to its hyper-oxidised environment.

Mapping The Zone
Mapping The Zone’s perimeter was achieved over the course of four days with relative ease, due to the detectable presence of an invisible but hard boundary. Using oxygen detectors, surveyors ascertained the existence of a clear and sudden division between The Zone’s and the outside’s respective atmospheres, with no transitionary cross-bleed between them. The Zone’s atmosphere also extends upward around 30kms (18mile), affording it’s avian SuperFauna an open flying range. Thankfully, no regular flying routes currently operate over The Zone.

Security Measures
The perimeter has now been encompassed with electrified sheep fencing dotted with “private land” signs so as to deter unwanted visitors without drawing undue attention. In addition, all public walking routes through the area have been rerouted so as to circumvent The Zone’s bounds. The forested area in which The Zone is situated sees little human traffic and despite bordering on farmland on its eastern and south-western sides, SuperFauna sightings from external parties have so far been minimal.
